This is a brief history of Roselea Soccer Club
1967
The first meeting of Roselea Soccer club was held on the 17th of January 1967 and the Gladesville-Hornsby Football Association accepted Roselea.
The clubs original colours were aqua shirts with black halves, white shorts and black socks with aqua turndowns.
The club had four teams that year two under seven teams, an under eights and under nine with a total of 68 players.
The under eights were premiers that year and under nines were runners up
The clubs AGM on the 30th of August 1967 a discussion was held regarding the clubs emblem. Vikings, Flashes&Thunderbolts and Falcons were discussed but a decision could not be reached.
Roselea’s first president Bill Williams was originally from Liverpool, UK and was a ball boy for Everton FC. He donated a trophy for the leaders with the highest points at Roselea it was called the ’Bill Williams Trophy
1968
The club registered seven teams from U6s to U10s.
Bill Williams was nominated for and accepted as a life member of the Gladesville-Hornsby Football Association.
West Epping Soccer Club approached Roselea Soccer Club hoping to amalgamate. The subject was discussed at management committee then placed before a general meeting but Roselea SC declined.
A Fine of $1000 was placed on any member not present on the “Neville Apps” gala day unless a doctor’s certificate was supplied!!
1969
The club fielded nine teams from U6s to U10s.
A change of uniform was approved by the association with a change to an all aqua short-sleeved shirt with black trim on the neck and sleeves. Shorts and socks stayed the same.
Amalgamation with West Epping was raised again but without a two-thirds majority vote, the matter was left in abeyance.
1970
13 teams played under the Roselea banner with two premierships, two runners up, two champions, one runner up and three pennant winners won that year.
The club held its first supper dance at Beecroft Bowling Club.
1971
Roselea fielded 16 teams
The building work began on the Roselea community centre.
1972
Roselea fielded sixteen teams again from U6s to U13s
Amalgamation with Carlingford Redbacks was proposed by both clubs but at Roselea’s AGM a two-thirds majority could not be reached and the motion was lost.
1973
Roselea fielded twelve teams from U6s to U14s. Our all age team nomination had to be withdrawn due to a lack of players.
The end of the 1972 and beginning of 1973 saw the club go through a period of great internal strife. An unsuccessful attempt to dissolve the Roselea Soccer Club caused a split within the membership.
1974
Roselea fielded thirteen teams again from U6s to U14s.
GHFA approved a request for a change of club and uniform colours.
Shirts were crew neck, long sleeved with sky and navy blue vertical stripes. Shorts were navy blue. Socks were sky blue with navy blue stripes on the turndowns.
1975
We had 140 players in 12 teams ranging from U6s to U15s.
1976
We had 11 teams ranging from U6s to U16s
Grant Norris designed a new club emblem and his design remains with us to this day.
Our 16/1s competed in the Champion of Champion s competition.
The Australian Soccer Coach Mr Rale Rasic gave the trophies at the presentation day at Cheltenham Oval.
David Little and Pauline Little were elected as life members
1977
Our 16/1 became AA/2 our first senior team. We had a total of fourteen teams.
The club shirts were altered to short sleeves.
The Redbacks Soccer Club sought permission to erect a clubhouse on council land. Roselea objected on the grounds that all sporting codes should have use of the facilities. Talks of a merger with Redbacks was raised but totally rejected.
1978
Roselea fielded its largest number of teams 17 teams with 2 premier league sides for the first time.
Greg Christie was nominated and elected as a life member.
1979
The club fielded 16 teams from U6s to premier league. An all age team from Redbacks offered to play for Roselea and was accepted.
Ian Tredinnick, Dorothy Tredinnick, Fred Sommershoff and Susan Sommershoff were nominated and elected as life members.
1980
The club fielded 16 teams however the most senior team was U16s.
A directive came from the GHFA stating, “Girls were not allowed to play in boys teams”
Not one Roselea player was required to appear before the judiciary this season.
Controversy raged over the construction of the clubhouse on Roselea Oval. Hornsby council withdrew permission for Redbacks to build a clubhouse at the site.
However a clubhouse will be built on the site for the use of all sporting bodies.
Barry Kitchener was nominated and elected as a life member.
1981
Roselea fielded its highest number of teams with 21 sides from U6s to U16s and one AA6 team.
The first girl to play for Roselea Susan Grace Austin played for the U9s
The Roselea Park Amenities Canteen commenced operations.
1982
Roselea fielded another record amount of teams with 22 sides.
Celia O’Keefe became the second girl to play for Roselea scoring on her debut for the U7s
The U12/4s and 14/2s both won the premiership and grand final.
Harry and Maria Poulos were nominated and elected as life members.
1983
Roselea continued to field a record number of teams with 25 playing that year from U6s to U17s and one AA7 team.
The 11/4s and 12/2s both won the premiership and grand final.
Ray Catts and Barbara Hall were elected as life members.
1984
The club fielded 25 teams again from U6s to U17s and one AA5 team.
Five Roselea players were selected in the Gladesville-Hornsby U10s training squad.
1985
Roselea fielded 25 teams for the third year in a row with two hundred and seventy players.
At a GHFA meeting it was pointed out that “Mothers should not run onto the pitch and kiss the under 6s when they score”
A motion was raised at the clubs AGM to change the clubs name to “Roselea Raiders Soccer Club” this could not proceed without changing the clubs constitution.
1986
The clubs number of teams dropped to 19 from 25.
A name change survey was circulated to all members with a majority-voting no to a change. Names suggested were Roselea Rockets, Roselea Raiders, Roselea Vikings and Roselea Rumblers.
Members were saddened at the passing away of foundation member Bill Williams at the age of 93.
Roselea SC conducted its first overseas tour with players from the 14/1a and three players from the 15/1 together with manager, coach and parents heading to the USA. The team played six matches against American teams and visited Mexico and Hawaii on the trip.
The tour was a success with an invitation offered to the American teams to visit Australia the following year.
Roselea was placed 5th in GHFA club championship
Helen Botfield was elected as a life member.
1987
Roselea fielded 20 teams this year with a second all age for the first time since 1979, which included a host of several ex-Roselea players.
Following a resolution from of the years previous AGM the club took steps to become an Incorporated Body under the Incorporation Act of 1984.
A composite team from Half Moon Bay Sports Club, Lightning Soccer Division and San Francisco USA accepted our invitation to visit Australia. The team played against Thornleigh, Warringah, Gladesville-Hornsby and Roselea Soccer Clubs.
The Roselea Cup was instigated to honour the occasion of Roselea and Half Moon Bay Sports Club Lightning Soccer Division becoming sister clubs. The cup is presented to the team that travels overseas.
The clubs 21st Anniversary dinner dance was held at Pennant Hills Golf
1988
The club fielded 24 teams this season with three senior teams AA3,AA7s and AA9s.
The club became an Incorporated Body, which means we are now a legal entity and have rights and privileges under the associations act, 1984
15 players from the U13s and U14s headed to the USA again to visit and play against sister club Half Moon Bay.
Bruce Keyvar and Peter Salier were elected as life members.
1989
Roselea equalled it record with 25 teams again with U6s to U17s and four senior teams AA3, AA4, AA5 and AA8s
It was awful season weather wise with a record number of games cancelled
The GHFA secretary Ross Iredale had to rearrange 550 teams each week during the season.
Half Moon Bay visited Australia again and was the highlight of the year.
Reg Bell was elected as a life member
1990
The club beat its previous record with the number of teams rising to 27 teams and 308 players.
Twenty boys from Roselea’s U13s headed to the USA. The third time a Roselea team had visited Half Moon Bay.
Bob Walcot was elected as a life member.
1991
The club grew again with the club fielding 34 teams.
The Club played its first senior games at Harold West Reserve.
Roselea’s first senior team won a premiership with the AA6s phantoms taking out the title
The club held its Silver Anniversary dinner dance at Rosehill Racecourse.
Roselea played host for the visitors from Half Moon Bay USA. The Roselea Cup game resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Glenn Morris was elected as a life member.
1992
The club grew again with 36 teams from U6s to U21s and 5 senior teams with over 400 registered players.
Another milestone was the re-entry of Roselea into Premier League all age competition after an absence of many years.
The boys kept tradition up and visited Half Moon Bay USA for the fourth time.
The 14/1s and 15/1s won the premiership and grand final
The AA7s were premiers
Nancy and Ken Schneider were elected as life members.
1993
The club fielded 39 teams with 452 registered players
The 10/5s did the double
Ian McColl was elected as life member.
1994
The club fielded 33 teams.
The following teams ended the season as premiers, champions, runners up or pennant winners. U9/1, U9/4,U9/5, U10/1,U10/2, U11/5, U16/1 and AA5.
1995
The club fielded 37 teams
The dinner dance was held at North Ryde RSL and was full to capacity.
At the dinner dance Kevin Weaver was awarded his life membership.
The inaugural award for the Col Wilson Memorial plaque for Most Outstanding Club Member was presented to Maria Wylie.

1996
The club fielded 38 teams compromising 440 players.
Dinner Dance was held at Dural country club and life membership was awarded to Graeme Sayer, Jim Creech, Col Vaughan, Rhonda and Bruce Darley.
Olive Collins was awarded the Col Wilson Plaque.
The new high wire fence was built at Harold West.
1997
No year book this year
Val Hutchings was awarded life membership. Terry Gorries was awarded the Col Wilson Plaque.
1998
The club fielded 37 teams
Our friends from Half Moon Bay, USA visited again.
Bruce Macfadyen was awarded life membership and Fred Watson received the Col Wilson award.
1999
The club fielded 35 teams
2000
The club fielded 37 teams
2004
Roselea field a ladies team in the NW Sydney Womens Competition for the first time with an U12 team competing
2005
Roselea field 44 teams
Super League win premiership and gain promotion to premier league. Lose Grand Final 1-0
14/2s and 35/7s win their respective Grand Finals
2007
The ladies won the Club Championship of the NWSW comp with 5 teams competing.
